Costa Rica's National Parks:


Santa Rosa:

This Costa Rica National Park is best known for its rich history as a battlegrounds location, and as a huge nesting area for the 300 lbs+ green sea turtles. Santa Rosa can be found on the North West side of the Costa Rica map.

Guanacaste:
Guanacaste Beach draws visitors to its surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling, horseback riding, bird watching, and scenic shoreline beauty. The inland of this Costa Rica National Park draws visitors to its spectacular rainforest, volcanoes, mountains, valleys, horseback riding, bird watching, and upscale accommodations. Guanacaste can be found on the North West side of the Costa Rica map.

Rincon de la Vieja:
This Costa Rica National Park is home to 5 volcanoes, and draws people every year to its spectacular views, and unique wildlife. Rincon de la Vieja can be found on the North West side of the Costa Rica map.

Las Baulas:Much of this Costa Rica National Park consists of different types of Mangrove Swampland which allows an interesting variety of animals to live there. The beautiful beaches are important nesting grounds for Leatherback turtles. Las Baulascan be found on the North West side of the Costa Rica map below Santa Rosa.

Palo Verde:This park is best known for the huge variety of birds that live here. It has an amazing balance between wetlands and rare Tropical Dry Forest, making it a great place to bird watch. Palo Verde can be found on the North West side of the Costa Rica map east of Las Baulas.

Barra Hondo:
The calcareous formations of the limestone caverns at this Costa Rica National Park are the main visitor attraction, along with its striking natural beauty. Barra Hondo can be found on the North West side of the Costa Rica map south of Palo Verde.

Arenal:
The Arenal Volcano is one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. It is one of the most popular attractions for Costa Rica tourism, next to the rainforest and beaches. Arenal can be found on the North side of the Costa Rica map east of Palo Verde.

Volcan Poas:
Because of its convenient proximity to San Jose, this Costa Rica National park is one of the most visited, with the major attraction being the Costa Rica volcanoes. Aside from the obvious attraction to the volcano, this area is very biologically diverse and houses extraordinary exotic birds and animals. Volcan Poas can be found on the center of the Costa Rica map.

Braulio Carrillo:
The Braulio Carrillo National Park is only a thirty minute drive from San Jose, and is a beautiful park, with rugged and natural land. It’s a great place to see Costa Rica birds, and exotic wildlife. Braulio Carrillo can be found on the center of the Costa Rica map.

Volcan Irazu:

This park is a great place to cool off, as its bizarre temperatures average around 45F; it’s not uncommon for it to even frost, especially at night. Aside from the Costa Rica weather, the active volcano is a spectacular sight, and makes a great day trip. Volcan Irazu can be found on the center of the Costa Rica map.

Tortuguero:

One of most popular Costa Rica ecotourism destinations is Tortuguero National Park. Most famous for its rainforest, Tortuguero also has beautiful canals, rivers, beaches and lagoons. This unique are has some of the most biodiversity on earth. Toruguero can be found on the east side of the Costa Rica map.


Cahuita:
One of the most amazing Costa Rica National Parks, this area lies on the Carribbean side of Costa Rica, and was originally made to protect the beautiful coral reefs. The fantastic array of marine life and the largest coral reef in Costa Rica are the biggest attraction for guests. Cahuita can be found on the east side of the Costa Rica map south of Tortuguero.


La Amistad:

La Amistad is the largest, most remote, and untouched National Parks in Costa Rica. It protects many different habitats such as cloud forests, rainforests, and even tundra-like conditions. Much of the park has never even been explored yet by humans. La Amistad can be found on the south side of the Costa Rica map.

Chirripo:

This Costa Rica National Park protects some of the most rugged terrain, although there are accessible trails to enjoy the amazing wildlife. The highest peak in Costa Rica lies at the top of Cerro Chirripo. Chirripo can be found on the east side of the Costa Rica map.

Manuel Antonio:
Manuel Antonio is a Costa Rica National Park that draws masses of people every year, despite the fact that it is the smallest park in the country. It is home to just about everything Costa Rica is famous for: beautiful white sand beaches, amazing views of offshore islands, lush rainforest, and exotic wildlife. Manuel Antonio can be found on the south side of the Costa Rica map north of La Amistad.

Marino Ballena:

This Costa Rica National Park, is visited for its spectacular marine life and interesting shorelines. Marino Ballena can be found on the south east side of the Costa Rica map.

Corcovado:
Encompassing the only remaining old growth wet forests on the Pacific coast of Central America, Corcovado National Park is the adventure of a lifetime! With 13 major ecosystems, this unique area is home to many of the world’s endangered animals. Corcovado can be found on the south side of the Costa Rica map below Marino Ballena.
